VOCE was established in September of 2013. The inception of the choir was the work of retired William Henry Harrison High School choral director, Karen Schweinfest, and two of her alumni students, Ruth (Hanselman) Lewis, and Greg Long. Forty singers representing Ohio, Kentucky, and Indiana chartered the first choir. The following year, the choir became a 501(c)3 non-profit organization, and a Board of Directors was established. The choir has enjoyed a seven year stretch of performances housed in the Martin Marietta Theater in Harrison, Ohio. In addition to performing in Harrison, the group has also has been a featured choir at Cincinnati’s Saengerfest. The choir strives to perform a variety of repertoire, representing periods of history, cultures, and genres. VOCE relies on donations and fund raising to continue musical and artistic outreach throughout the community.

What to expect: Auditions are private. You will perform your song selection in front of our director and assistant director. The director will use your audition for vocal placement within the choir. Rehearsals are held every Tuesday, 6:30-8:30 PM, in the William Henry Harrison High School music room. Concerts and other events will change each semester. Dues are $30 per person for each season. These funds are used to purchase music for each concert. Uniforms are a required purchase for performances.

"Her Majesty's Chorus", is a lighthearted look at the contrasts between English and American culture. The choir will present an entire concert of music that is indigenous to the British Isles. A wide variety of musical genres such as works by the masters, folk tunes and modern-day pop songs will be performed.

Lynn Minges was a charter member of the choir and embodied the spirit of a true performer.
To honor her love of music and theater, VOCE, along with her family, established the Lynn Minges Memorial Scholarship. Students from the Harrison High School Music and Theater Departments are eligible to apply. Inquiries can be made to the William Henry Harrison High School Guidance Department. The award winner will be announced at the conclusion of VOCE's spring concert.
